Wire Sphere

Create a new 400x400 pixels document with a black background.

Select the Gradient Tool with the following settings:

Foreground Color: White (#FFFFFF)
Background Color: Black (#000000)
Gradient: Background color to Foreground color
Gradient Type: Reflected Gradient
Mode: Difference
Opacity: 100%
Reverse: Yes
Dither: Yes
Transparency: Yes

Draw a pair of lines with the Gradient Tool, make sure you get something similar to picture 3.

Now continue to draw strikes to get something alike to the picture on the left.

Apply Polar Coordinates (Filter> Disort> Polar Coordinates); use Rectangular to Polar.

Duplicate the layer and Filp it Horizontal (Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal).

Set Layer2’s Blending Mode to Lighten.

That's almost it. Now use Hue / Saturation (Ctrl+U) to fiddle around with the colors.
